De första Nordiska spelen hölls i
Stockholm år 1901. Avsikten var att spelen skulle hållas
vart fjärde år.
När Nordiska spelen startade fanns inte de Olympiska vinterspelen
utan endast sommarspelen.
Två män bakom idén till de Nordiska spelen
var professor E .J. Widmark och generalmajor V.G. Balck. Balck
var god vän med Baron Pierre de Coubertin grundaren av de
Olympiska spelen.
Balck var även medlem i IOC 1894- 1921.

Drottning Victorias
död i januari 1901 medförde att Världsmästerskapen
i konståkning flyttades till Nordiska spelen i Stockholm. Due to the death of queen Victoria in January 1901 the World Figure Skating Championships event was mowed to the Nordic Games in Stockholm. |

Bandy Spelades

The first Nordic
Games were held in Stockholm in 1901.
The Games was planned on a four year cycle.
In the first decades of the Nordic Games winter sports were not
included in the Olympic Games. The Nordic Games preceded the
Olympic Wintergames.
There were two men behind the idea of the Nordic Games. Professor
E.J. Widmark and general V.G. Balck. Balc was a good friend of
the founder of the modern Olympic Games baron Pierre Coubertin.
Balck was a menber of the IOC 1894-1921.
